Workers have begun exhuming the remains of what are believed to be 11 Imperial Japanese Army soldiers at a war cemetery in India's northeastern state of Assam.
The exhumations started Wednesday in the presence of officials from both countries and are being carried out at the request of the Japanese government, which will repatriate the remains, according to Japanese officials.
At least some of the 11 men are thought to have died while fighting British and Indian troops during the Battle of Kohima. (Japan Times)
