Japan took a modest medal haul from the opening weekend of the London 2012 Games, with two silver and three bronze medals. The country is not an Olympic powerhouse, so huge medal hauls are not to be expected. But it has made a noticeably disappointing start in an event in which it usually excels - judo. Japan has a 14-member judo team stacked with medal contenders in London. It boasts the most judo medals of any country, and the sport has yielded half of its overall medal tally at previous Games.
