NTT DoCoMo Inc. said Wednesday that a problem with an Internet service called sp mode for smartphones may have hampered email delivery for as many as 100,000 customers since Tuesday.
The company partially suspended the service after customers, mostly in western Japan, complained Tuesday that replying to email messages caused the return addresses to be changed.
The service will resume gradually starting Thursday, the company said.
DoCoMo said the trouble occurred when a worker accidentally severed a cable that was part of a relay system in western Japan. (Japan Times)
