A car crashed into a truck carrying 100 pigs at Nasukarasuyama in Tochigi Prefecture on Monday, police said Tuesday.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m., according to Sankei Shimbun. The truck, driven by a 52-year-old man, was hit by the car driven by an 83-year-old man, and turned over onto its side. About 40 pigs escaped, police said.
The pigs were rounded up in a nearby rice paddy about 90 minutes later. Seven pigs died in the truck.
Sankei reported that the accident took place at an intersection where there were no traffic lights. (Japan Today)
